Thanks for your interest in a dog with Operation Favor. This is our first step in the process, so please be as thorough as possible. We are a volunteer-based rescue, so please be patient if you do not get a response right away!
Before Applying
Please ask yourself the following:
Have you read the dog’s bio to make sure your current situation is the right fit for the dog you are applying for?
Am I ready for a dog in the next 7-10 days? Our dogs arrive at various times a month, so do not apply unless you are ready to make a commitment in the near future.
Do you have time? Puppies, young adults, and adult dogs are a full-time commitment and all need of regular exercise, playtime, attention, training, and most importantly puppy snuggles.
Are your current pets (if applicable) up-to-date on vet visits and vaccines? Dogs MUST have their Rabies and DAAP/DAAPL vaccines. Lyme and Lepto vaccines are optional, although we strongly encourage them. Bordetella and Flu vaccines are also optional. Dogs should have record of their annual SNAP test. Dogs MUST be on monthly heart worm preventative or the annual heart worm preventative shot. Cats MUST have their Rabies, FVRCP, and FeLV vaccines. Flea and tick is optional, but encouraged. If your current pet has a medical condition that prevents them from getting vaccines, please disclose that during your application call.
Is everyone on board? Everyone in your household should be on board before you apply for a dog.
Are you at least 25 years of age? We do require the primary adopter/adopters are at least 25 years old.
Why does this matter? Because every applicant interview takes about 45 minutes of our volunteers’s personal time where they could be playing with their own dogs, and we value their time.
How long does it take to get a response? We try our best to be prompt, but please remember we our volunteer based, and sometimes our full-time jobs, families, and life need a little extra attention. If you don’t hear from us in 5 days, give us a nudge by emailing us at hello@operationfavor.org. And please CHECK YOUR SPAM! Sometimes our emails are hiding in your spam folder.
More questions? Please check out our FAQS. And as always, thanks for adopting instead of shopping!
